The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Anger Over Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Changes
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
