Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the team access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
