Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that challenges conventional forecasts, the game developer has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering free extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Uncovered
According to the authorized announcement, "A strange encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of prohibited practices and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The narrative introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine sect.
The questline focuses on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Changes
The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an special katana together with multiple items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Update
This release also brings the game's newest complimentary story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Crossovers
This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
